TurboPup got a deal on Shark Tank, expanded quickly for a time, but later faded and appears to be out of business.
The Shark Tank Deal
Kristina Guerrero asked for $100,000 in exchange for 20% of her company. She pitched turbopup as a compact, complete meal bar for dogs—easy to carry on trips, hiking, or outdoor adventures. After negotiations, she accepted $100,000 for 35% equity with Daymond John.
Early Promise and Growth
In the years following the show, turbopup gained momentum. Daymond helped Kristina with retail connections and marketing. The product was rolled out in 700 PetSmart stores. The brand also partnered with a distributor (Fetch) to scale manufacturing and expand reach.
As publicity grew, orders spiked after the show aired. The product was positioned as a “Power Bar for dogs” that meets full nutritional standards, with added vitamins, minerals, and omega-3s. The company marketed it as a complete dog meal, not just a treat.
They targeted outdoor enthusiasts and pet owners who needed portable, compact dog food solutions. The founders claimed their bars met dog food safety standards and were safe even for sensitive stomachs.
Challenges Faced
As time went on, turbopup encountered serious problems:
- Product quality issues: Some customers reported mold in bars, damaged packaging, or holes in packs.
- Inconsistent availability: Over time, the product was pulled from Amazon and other online marketplaces.
- Website and social media fade: Their official site went down, and their social accounts stopped being updated.
- Declining trust: Mixed reviews, especially around reliability and safety, hurt reputation.
These factors made it hard to maintain momentum in a competitive pet-food market.
The Decline and Shutdown
By 2022, turbopup had effectively gone offline. Their domain stopped working, and their online presence vanished. There was no formal announcement of closure. As of 2025, the product is no longer available for purchase, and the brand is widely considered defunct.
Kristina Guerrero moved on to a different career path, reportedly working as a pilot for a major airline.
