The life is strange 2 choices you make steer Daniel’s morality and determine whether you surrender, cross the border, stay together, or live apart — and there are multiple endings.
How the Game Tracks Your Choices
From episode to episode, the game keeps track of your decisions using hidden metrics like Morality and Brotherhood. You will see little wolf icons when you make big choices — they hint that your decision will affect Daniel or your bond with him.
Every time you decide to let Daniel use his power, punish or encourage him, steal or stay honest, help or ignore others — these add up. Daniel reacts differently depending on how you guide him.
Major Decision Moments
Here are the big turning points in the story:
- Encourage vs. forbid Daniel’s power: Letting him use his power in small moments builds his confidence. Discouraging him can make him fearful or resent whether the power.
- Steal / break in vs. refuse: In one episode you can break into Merrill’s house to steal. Whether you do this affects Daniel’s morals and how NPCs later see you.
- Dialogue with strangers: Treating people with kindness or with aggression affects how they help (or refuse to help) later.
- Border finale: At the border, you must choose to surrender or push through. That final choice, combined with Daniel’s moral state, leads to different endings.
Ending Types in Life Is Strange 2
Depending on your choices, there are multiple endings. The four core types are:
| Ending Name | What Happens | Key Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Redemption / Surrender | Sean surrenders, Daniel lives with family, Sean later reunites | Daniel has high morality, you choose to surrender |
| Lone Wolf / Sean Dies | Sean tries to force crossing, gets shot and dies; Daniel becomes darker | Low morality or reckless choices |
| Break Through / Together | Sean and Daniel cross together, open a life in Mexico, possibly using power | You choose to push through and Daniel trusts your path |
| Break Through / Separate | Sean crosses, Daniel does not or gives himself up; they live apart | Disagreements, Daniel’s moral choice or lack of trust |
There are small variations inside these based on side decisions, romance options, and interactions.
How to Influence the Ending You Want
- Always think about how Daniel sees your actions. If you punish him too harshly, he might stop trusting you.
- Use Daniel’s powers sparingly and for just causes, not to bully or scare.
- Make kind or fair choices with others — being mean often erodes your moral standing.
- Build your relationship with Daniel by listening to him and supporting him when he doubts you.
- At the final border choice: if Daniel is morally sound and trusts you, surrendering gives you a chance at a “better” outcome. If he’s distrusting or has low morality, pushing through might lead to darker routes.
