God of War Valkyrie Locations Guide
The 9 Valkyrie places in the game are spread across Midgard and other realms, and each is hidden behind
The 9 Valkyrie places in the game are spread across Midgard and other realms, and each is hidden behind a special chamber door. Here is the full guide to find them all easily.
Midgard Valkyries
Gunnr – Thamur’s Corpse
Gunnr is the first and easiest Valkyrie in the game. You can find her in Midgard inside the Hidden Chamber located near the giant Thamur’s hand. This chamber is close to the docks and becomes accessible after you obtain the Magic Chisel in the main story. The path is straight, and the chamber door sits next to the frozen giant’s arm. Gunnr teaches many core Valkyrie attack patterns, so defeating her helps you understand dodging and parrying before facing stronger Valkyries.
Geirdriful – Foothills Region
Geirdriful is located in Midgard’s Foothills, just ahead of Sindri’s shop. Walk up the slope until you reach a fork in the path, then choose the right path leading to the Hidden Chamber door. This Valkyrie uses many aerial attacks, long-range lightning strikes, and stunning moves. Keeping the shield ready and using Atreus’ arrows helps reduce chaos. Geirdriful’s chamber is one of the most accessible areas and is typically tackled early.
Kara – The River Pass
Kara sits inside the Witch’s Cave beneath the Witch’s Hut in The River Pass. You need to lower the platforms to reach the Hidden Chamber door. Kara summons draugr during the fight, making crowd control important. Runic attacks help you manage the mobs quickly. This location is central in Midgard and becomes reachable early in the adventure, making it another common first-half Valkyrie fight.
Eir – The Mountain
Eir is found inside the Hidden Chamber on the lower levels of The Mountain. Ride the mountain lift down, follow the tunnels, and you’ll see the marked door. Eir uses heavy mace attacks and shield strikes that can stun you if mistimed. This fight feels heavier and slower, teaching you timing and patience. Many players tackle Eir after boosting armor and strength from optional areas in Midgard.
Alfheim Valkyrie
Olrun – Light Elf Shore
Olrun is inside the Hidden Chamber located near Alfheim’s large lake. Hug the coast until you see a cave opening with the chamber door. Olrun is incredibly fast with quick dashes and evasion maneuvers, requiring sharp reaction time. She is considered one of the trickiest Valkyries due to speed alone. Fighting her early is hard, so upgrading Leviathan Axe and Runic attacks makes the fight smoother.
Helheim Valkyrie
Rota – Helheim Bridge Area
Rota is found near the end of the World Bridge in Helheim. Climb up the steps, turn left from the broken wall, and the Hidden Chamber door appears. Rota uses aggressive grab attacks and jump-slam moves that deal high damage. Learning her distance-based attacks is key. She is located deep in Helheim, so it naturally becomes a later fight for most players after they gain stronger armor sets and resistance bonuses.
Niflheim Valkyrie
Hildr – Niflheim Mist Maze
Hildr’s chamber is inside the Ivaldi’s Workshop maze. Turn left at every junction until you reach the Valkyrie room. The maze drains health using poisonous mist, so entering with the best Niflheim armor is important. Hildr herself is balanced in difficulty, but the mist timer adds pressure. Gathering enough Mist Echoes to unlock upgrades also helps you survive longer.
Muspelheim Valkyrie
Gondul – Muspelheim Trial Final Fight
Gondul appears at the end of the fifth Muspelheim Trial. Beat the earlier challenge tiers to unlock her arena. She uses fire-based attacks, explosions, and area-burn zones. High cooldown builds with strong runic attacks help a lot. Gondul is considered one of the toughest Valkyries because the battlefield constantly pressures you with fire damage and limited safe zones.
Final Valkyrie
Sigrun – Council of Valkyries
Sigrun can be fought only after defeating all eight Valkyries and placing their helmets on the eight thrones in the Council of Valkyries located in Midgard. Once the helmets are placed, a Realm Tear appears, revealing the toughest boss in the entire game. Sigrun combines every Valkyrie attack pattern, from grabs to wing slams to stun beams. This fight requires maxed armor, strong runic attacks, rage management, and constant movement. Sigrun’s location is easy to reach, but the fight demands full preparation.
How to Unlock Hidden Chambers
Each Valkyrie sits behind a Hidden Chamber of Odin door. These doors can only be opened after you obtain the Magic Chisel during the main story. Once unlocked, the doors can be activated by tracing the glowing rune with the chisel. The chambers often contain collectible rewards, lore scrolls, and chests, making exploration worthwhile beyond the Valkyrie fights.
Best Recommended Gear for Valkyrie Fights
Strong armor sets such as Ivaldi’s, Valkyrie Armor, or Sindri’s Armor help boost defence, runic power, and cooldown. Upgrading Atreus’ bow abilities is also helpful because stun arrows interrupt many Valkyrie attacks. Runic attacks like Hel’s Touch and Glaive Storm offer crowd control and burst damage. Resurrection stones are essential because Valkyries hit extremely hard, especially the later ones.
Essential Combat Tips
Study each Valkyrie’s attack animation carefully. Many of them shout commands such as “Valhalla!” or “Sisters!” which hint at incoming moves like grab attacks or stun dives. Dodging sideways is safer than rolling backward because several attacks track distance. Use Spartan Rage for healing and pressure. Keeping Atreus firing arrows constantly helps stagger Valkyries long enough to open attack windows.
