What to Look for in a Minecraft Chess Set
You want a minecraft chess set that is both pretty and useful. Key features include:
- Clear difference between pieces (so you don’t mix up rook, bishop, etc.)
- Good materials (hard plastic, resin, acrylic)
- A board that is sturdy and fits together well
- Nice design, because many will display it
- Pieces that feel solid, not too light or fragile
Why the Noble Collection Set Is Popular
This set has 32 pieces, each styled to look like Minecraft blocks and textures (obsidian, redstone, emerald, stone).
The board is 18 inches square and comes as four interlocking parts, making it easier to ship and store.
The design mixes characters (Steve, Alex) and mobs (Creeper, Enderman) to match the Minecraft world.
It is made for both play and display — collectors like it because it looks good even when not in use.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Very visually appealing with Minecraft textures
- Pieces are detailed and thematic
- Board is strong and user-friendly
- Good balance between showpiece and playable set
Cons
- Some pieces can look similar and may be hard to tell apart
- No extra markings under pieces, so remembering which is which can be a little tricky
- Shipping and cost can be high in some places
Alternatives & Variants
- Some shops sell themed “Overworld vs Hostile Mobs” versions, with different sets of characters on each side
- Regional editions exist, with slight changes in packaging or piece arrangement
- Sometimes limited or special edition sets appear, with alternative textures or coloring
How to Choose the Right One
- Make sure it is officially licensed (to avoid poor knockoffs)
- Check piece clarity so you can tell each chess role easily
- Consider weight and material — heavier sets often feel more premium
- See if the board locks tightly so it stays together when displayed
- Confirm shipping cost and availability to your country
