Xbox Series X: Features, Games & Deals

Xbox Series X is a powerful gaming console with fast speed, great graphics, and lots of features.

Hardware & Core Specs

The Xbox Series X has a custom AMD Zen 2 CPU with 8 cores running up to 3.8 GHz (or 3.6 GHz with SMT). Its GPU is a custom RDNA 2 unit capable of about 12 teraflops performance. It includes 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, split with high and lower bandwidth segments. The internal storage is a 1 TB custom NVMe SSD, giving very fast load and transfer speeds.

It supports 4K resolution at 60 fps, and in many cases up to 120 fps. It also supports features like hardware ray tracing, variable refresh rate (VRR), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) to reduce lag and make gameplay smoother.

System Features & Software

The console uses what’s called Xbox Velocity Architecture, mixing hardware and software to help data stream faster, reduce load times, and let game worlds feel more seamless.

Quick Resume allows you to suspend multiple games and jump between them quickly, even after powering off or rebooting.

With Smart Delivery, when you buy a supported game (digital or disc), you get the best version for your console (Xbox One or Series X) without paying again.

Backward compatibility means you can play many games from older Xbox generations (Xbox One, 360, original), and many of those get visual or performance boosts like better frame rates or HDR.

Older games benefit from FPS Boost and Auto HDR when run on the Series X, making them look and run better.

Storage & Expansion

The built-in 1 TB SSD is fast but many modern games are very large in size.

To expand, Microsoft offers proprietary expansion cards which match the internal SSD’s performance and plug into a dedicated slot.

You can also attach external USB 3.x drives, but those are generally good for storing or running backward compatibility games — not the new optimized titles.

Games & Titles

Many titles are labeled “optimized for Series X|S”, meaning they make use of the extra power: better textures, smoother frame rates, quicker load times.

Popular games optimized for the system include Forza Motorsport (2023) and many AAA franchises like Call of Duty, Gears of War, Grand Theft Auto V, Final Fantasy XVI, and more.

Thanks to Smart Delivery, if you own a game on Xbox One that supports it, you often get its upgraded version for Series X without extra charge.

Deals, Pricing & Trends

Microsoft has adjusted Game Pass Ultimate pricing and package structure to include more benefits and games.

There have been price increases globally for the Xbox Series X itself, partly to reflect higher manufacturing and development costs.

Still, during seasonal sales or bundle offers, consoles, games, or expansion cards can be found at discounts.

Expansion cards (especially 1 TB or 2 TB models) often see promotional pricing, making them more affordable for many users.
