Oblivion Remaster is now available, and it brings big updates to both visuals and gameplay.
Release Information
The game launched on April 22, 2025 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
A physical Deluxe Edition will be released on October 13, 2025 for PS5 and Xbox.
There are two editions: the standard edition, and a Deluxe edition that adds extra gear, quests, an artbook, and soundtrack.
Platforms & Access
You can play it on PC (via Steam or Game Pass) and on consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S).
The Xbox version is optimized to run in 4K at 60 FPS.
Remote play, vibration, and enhanced performance features are supported on PS5.
Graphics & Visual Overhaul
All visual assets are rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5 — from character models to landscapes.
Lighting and shadow systems are modernized to look more realistic.
Textures, effects, and environmental details (like foliage, water, ambient life) are all upgraded.
Animation quality (movement, combat, idle poses) is vastly improved.
Audio & Voice
Ambient sounds, environmental audio, and effects have been remastered for clarity.
Some voice work is re-recorded to match upgraded visuals.
Dialogue and lip sync have been refined to feel more natural.
Gameplay & Mechanics
The UI, HUD, menus, and maps are redesigned to be cleaner and easier to use.
The levelling system is now a blend between original Oblivion and Skyrim styles.
Combat feels more solid, with added animations and more weight behind hits.
You can now sprint.
Enemy scaling, encumbrance, and non-combat perks are reworked.
Camera systems in first- and third-person views have been revised.
Systems like persuasion and clairvoyance have updated interfaces.
More autosaves and better accessibility features are added.
Content & DLCs
All original DLCs and expansions like Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine are included.
The Deluxe edition adds unique armor sets (Akatosh, Mehrunes Dagon), extra quests, and cosmetic items (horse armor, gear).
Technical Notes
While visuals run on Unreal Engine 5, core gameplay logic still draws from the original game’s engine (modified).
The game is 64-bit, improving stability and performance.
Patches and updates already address balance, bug fixes, and difficulty tuning.
Reception & Numbers
Within days of launch, Oblivion Remaster saw millions of players.
Critics and fans praise how bold the remaster is — it does more than lift graphics; it modernizes gameplay without losing the core identity.
